Three games into the league season and the first team have been involved in 3 nail biting close finishes. The first game at Old Elizabethans was a game we should have won dropped chances cost us the game there, against Old Vigorians it was unbelievable to find how they batted after there poor fielding and bowling display. Last Saturday at Ross we came away with a tie, somehow not winning a game where we always looked the likely winners. So onto Barnards Green this Saturday with a win a must. The 2nds had there first win last weekend with Skipper Shep leading from the front with 91.
One big positive so far this season has been the transition to Adult Cricket for the likes of George Chadwick, Josh Bayliss, Ben Green and Jordan Beckley - all look at home in Adult games and have been successful with bat and ball.
A disappointment has been the lack of availability for Sunday fixtures, Sundays are vital for Saturday players to get into form and for youngsters to have there first taste of senior cricket. It is difficult to expect to bowl and bat well on Saturdays unless you get any practice in between and those who have committed to Sundays have shown good form. Numbers at training on a Wednesday have been good.
Notable individual performances so far this season include Gagey and Andres first team hundreds and Ali Mclellans 6 - 40 in the 2nd team. Chris Ayliffe also hit a ton on a Sunday.
The Under 16s have won there first two league games against Fladbury and Tewkesbury with the under 13s progressing in the Worcs Knock out cup following victories over Worcester Nomads and Hanley Castle.
The atmosphere at the Club at the weekend is thriving thanks to an influx in trade due to the local Caravan park, thanks to Paul Towey with all his hard work in this area. The Race Night was a good night thanks to all involved, Don't forget to get your tickets for the World Cup Party on Friday 17th June with the highlight being England vs Algeria.
