Double Hundred for Sunday Skipper
Rumours circulating around the club hear that Greener got his first double hundred at the weekend whilst on his Cornwall Tour.
Day 1
Opposition captain, Ben Green lost a vital toss and had to bowl on a wicket that could only be described wet and slightly sticky. Play was due to start at 8am but as the tide was not due to go out until 10am the first innings started around midday.
Ben thought this was a great toss to lose until he realised he only had one other strike bowler who was also his wicket keeper and the outfield was 3 times the size of the MCG. This was further compounded that all Greeners runs was scored in singles and both bowler and keeper had to change ends after each ball. There was news an attacking pull shot was played at around 11.30pm last night, but this was actually a hermit crab that had bitten Greeners toe at the point of delivery which sent his stumps flying into the nearest rock pool. A no ball was called by the batsman and play resumed.
Day 2 to follow...............................
Day 2
Play Suspended as the Scorebook (Copy of Hello) was lost.
Harvington Suffer
HARVINGTON'S lingering Cotswold Hills League Division Four promotion hopes were finally dashed on Saturday as they were beaten by six wickets by their Anchor Lane visitors Norton Lindsey 2nds.
Harvington are now destined to finish in mid-table after they were undone by a poor batting performance, the only highlight of which was a splendid 97 from captain Simon Price who struck 14 boundaries.
The only other batsman to make double figures was Mark Lee who scored 24 as the hosts were dismissed for 148 off 44 overs as Brian Parsons inflicted the bulk of the damage with 4-39 off ten overs as the visitors' decision to bowl first paid dividends.
In reply Harvington needed early wickets but could only grab one as Adam Lee dismissed opener James Thomas for two, but fellow opener Steve Berry (28) and number three Jerry Ashley (82no) steadied the ship and eased the visitors to 150-4 off 41 overs.
HARVINGTON 2nds fought valiantly but slipped to a 56-run defeat at Exhall & Wixford 3rds, who were grateful to number three Brett Green for a fine innings of 100 as they made 238-5 off their 45 overs having been put into bat.
In reply the visitors provided some spirited resistance as all of the top five got starts but unfortunately none of them were really able to go and post a truly big score.
Opener Steven Shepherd was the pick of the bunch with 48 including six boundaries and Nick Dore (31) and Graham Jones (27) also impressed, but a lower-order collapse saw Harvington dismissed for 172 in the 43rd over.
