HARVINGTON powered into second place in Cotswold Hills League Division Four with a fine 58-run victory over visitors Alcester & Ragley 2nds on Saturday.
Alcester won the toss and put the Anchor Lane side into bat and their decision appeared justified as they dismissed the hosts for 159 inside 44 overs, but they had reckoned without a fine bowling performance from Harvington.
Middle order batsmen Warren Harding (36 including six fours and one six) and Dave Waters (39 including seven fours and one six) were the pick of the home side’s batsmen, but it was with the ball where the match was won.
Alcester had no answer to a fine all-round bowling performance as they were skittled for 101 in the 32nd over, with Waters taking 3-28 off ten overs, A Lee 2-22 off six and Tim Sara 2-13 off 4.1, while Ollie Scarrott and Steve McKelvie also chipped in with a wicket apiece as Harvington picked up 20 points.
